How to Induce Labor Naturally

Pregnant mothers that have not yet started their labor after the due dates can try to induce the labor themselves. There are many ways to induce a labor naturally including having sex with your partner, food, herbs, and applying castor oil.

Having sexual intercourse with your partner can help to induce the labor. While having sexual intercourse, the prostaglandin in the semen will help to stimulate the cervix to contract.

Eating certain food can help to induce labor. Examples of food that can induce labor include pineapple, Chinese food, licorice, eggplant parmesan and spicy food.  Spicy food has the highest efficiency in inducing labor compare to other types of foods. Spicy food contains the capsasin which can cause the baby to descend down from the uterus.

Herbs are also known for their abilities to induce labor. The black cohosh can regulate the contractions of the cervix. It is usually sold in water or alcohol form. It is recommended that you don’t eat the black cohosh in capsule form.  Black cohosh is not suitable for people that suffer from a blood related illness such as anemia. Blue cohosh is able to strengthen the contractions of the uterus. To achieve the optimum result, you should take ten to fifteen tinctures of blue cohosh per hour. After that, you must take ten black cohosh every 30 minutes. You should repeat this procedure until the labor starts.

Castor oil induces labor by causing cramping in the stomach. When your stomach is cramp, the uterus will be stimulated. The stimulation of the uterus causes the body to release a prostaglandin. The prostaglandin will help to stimulate the contractions. Many people claim that using castor oil encourages the baby to release the meconium. If the baby inhales the meconium, he can die. Research has shown that no such danger have been encounter after the application of castor oil.
