If you are thinking about inducing labor at home, know that you are not alone. Many pregnant women are looking for information about natural labor induction and for several reasons. The most common reason women want to induce their own labor naturally is because they are overdue and may be faced with getting medically induced.

Medical labor induction is something a lot of women want to avoid. Just take a look at some of the possible risks and outcomes of medical induction.

Stronger and Longer Contractions (Which can lead to fetal distress)

Fetal Distress

Greater Labor Pains

Higher Risk of Ceserean Delivery (Especially for first time mothers)

Other Complications For Mother and/or Baby (Usually due to the use of drugs and medical interventions)

The potential risks and outcomes of medical labor induction is quite scary and worrisome so when a doctor mentions that they may have to take the route of medical induction and a woman is aware of these risks, you bet that they would want to know if there are any natural alternatives.

Discover The #1 Way To Induce Labor Naturally At Home – Poven, Safe, & Highly Effective!

Fortunately, there are several ways to go about inducing labor at home naturally – which means you have a chance to avoid getting medically induced. However, there are two important things to know before attempting any of these natural methods.

#1 – You have to talk to your doctor to make sure it is OK to try natural labor induction methods. Your doctor knows your pregnancy and health situation best therefore they can tell you based on what they know, if inducing labor naturally is a good and safe option to take.
#2 – Natural methods won’t work if you are not ready for labor. (Cervix being ripe for induction) Your doctor can help you determine if your body is ready for labor or least getting ready.

Now with that being said, let’s talk about inducing labor at home. There are quite a few ways that you can induce labor naturally. Below you will find some of the ways to induce your own labor including pros and cons of each method and you will learn the #1 recommended method out of them all.

#1 Inducing Labor at Home With Acupressure

Maternity Acupressure is the #1 highly recommended way to induce labor naturally at home. It is safe, effective, proven to work, and comes along with other benefits other than the actual labor induction. You can Click Here to learn how and why maternity acupressure is the best method to induce labor. To discover exactly how to use acupressure so that you can start your own labor quickly, Visit This Page -> Maternity Acupressure.

Pros:

It’s actually PROVEN to work
It’s HIGHLY effective
It’s Safe
It Provides Other Benefits (Reduces labor pains, promotes easier and shorter labor, and more)

Cons:

You need to know the correct acupressure points for it to work effectively which a lot of women do not know. However, the Maternity Acupressure Guide eliminates this problem.

Other Ways of Inducing Labor at Home

While acupressure is the recommended way to induce labor because of it’s effectiveness and having no risks, there are other methods that can be used as well. They may not be as effective but it can’t hurt to have other options that you can try.

Sex

Having sex helps to induce labor as the prostaglandins from sperm helps ripen and dilate the cervix. Having an orgasm also helps because it helps the cervix to dilate and causes the uterine to contract.

Pros:

It can be very effective
It is safe

Cons:

Most women are not in the mood for sex by the end of their pregnancy
Having sex at full term can be quite difficult to do

Non Impact Exercise & Related

Some women have had some success bringing on their labor by just doing some simple non impact exercises and other motion involved techniques. These methods helps to descend the baby down causing pressure which can trigger contractions. The methods include walking, swimming, marching up and down the stairs, squatting, bouncing on an exercise or birth ball, swinging on a swing, and going on bumpy car rides.

Pros:

Mostly safe as long as done in moderation and cautiously
Can be effective

Cons:

May not be as effective as other methods
Involves some exertion which some pregnant mothers at full term may not like

Relaxation & Visualization

If you didn’t know, tension, anxiety, and stress can all work against labor and actually cause a delay in the start of labor. This is why it is said that relaxation and visualization techniques can help to start labor. Getting a foot message, meditating, or doing something that will allow you to relax and unwind can all help. As far as visualization goes, it is said that if you get in a quiet and relaxed area and visualize yourself going into labor and imagine that your uterus is contracting, it may help you to go into labor.

Pros:

Safe
Easy to do
Can be effective

Cons:

It may not work

Food

It really isn’t the actual food that helps induce labor but the ingredients in the food that may help bring on contractions – resulting in labor. There are not a lot of studies that prove eating certain foods help to induce labor but there are quite a few women out there that state that eating certain foods can help to induce labor. These foods include pineapple, licorice, curry, spicy foods (in general), Chinese food, and eggplant parmesan to name a few.

Pros:

May help to induce labor

Cons:

May cause indigestion, heartburn, diarrhea, or simply not sit well with your stomach or tastes.

Nipple Stimulation

Nipple stimulation involves stimulating the nipples to bring on contractions so that labor is induced. When the nipples are stimulated, oxycotin is released which helps to bring on contractions. The idea is to either get your partner to suck on the nipples – or massage the area around the nipples – for up five minutes doing one breast at a time or you could take your fingers and gently rub your nipples. After doing both breasts, you are supposed to wait 15-20 minutes to see if anything happens.

Pros:

Can be effective
Considered mostly safe
Easy to do

Cons:

Can cause strong contractions if you overstimulate

Castor Oil

Castor oil is a commonly used to speed up the labor progress and for inducing labor at home. There is no study that finds out how Castor oil can induce labor. However, it is a fact that Castor oil induces labor by causing spasms in the stomach. There is no recommended dosage for Castor oil. Normally, one ounce of Castor oil is sufficient for causing stomach spasms which could lead to labor starting.

Pros:

Can be effective

Cons:

Not necessarily considered safe
Tastes horrible
Has unpleasant side effects (diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dehydration)
May cause your baby to pass Meconium, which if inhaled, can cause the baby to develop aspiration pneumonia which is a serious problem

Herbs

Herbs such as Blue and Black Cohosh have been said to help in bringing on labor. These herbs supposed to help regulate and strengthen uterine contractions. Both of these are pretty much similar. However, with Black Cohosh, you shouldn’t use if you have some sort of blood clotting condition or anemia as this herb can cause blood thinning which can result in a lot of blood loss during the delivery process.

Pros:

Can be effective

Cons:

Not much research or studies done to actually prove that herbs are effective
Herbs are considered unsafe since there is not much information on their effects when it comes to labor induction and pregnancy

If you’re looking to find out how to induce labor yourself – you’re in luck. The truth is, there are numerous ways that you can do so naturally and completely unassisted. In fact, you may even find that some of these methods are actually a lot less invasive than if you’d gone to a doctor for help.

For starters, you could try relaxation techniques. Basic meditation is not only effective, but it is also a whole lot easier than most people think. Just sit down in a cross legged pose with your arms extended so your wrists are on your knees, clear your mind, and start breathing in deeply to the count of five, then exhaling to the count of five too.

Continue to repeat that pattern, and remember to keep your mind completely clear while you do so!

Of course, if you’re looking to find out how to induce labor yourself in a slightly more proactive way – you could try walking. Not only is the exercise good for both you and your baby, but the motion of walking has been known to help induce labor. Considering you’ll be at full term it’s definitely not a good idea to try jogging or running, but a little light walking isn’t going to hurt you or your child.

Additionally, you could also try both sex and nipple stimulation.

While the methods that we’ve gone over so far all have good track records, there are others that you’re bound to hear about. These include things like castor oil, spicy food, and certain herbs like Blue and Black Cohosh.

Although you could learn how to induce labor yourself by using these methods, they generally come with numerous potential side effects, some of which could be harmful to your baby. In short – it would be a good idea to steer clear of them.

One method that has absolutely no side effects and yet is gaining renown as the most effective way to induce labor is acupressure. As an offshoot of acupuncture, it uses the same pressure points located throughout your body to help induce labor.

All that you need to do is apply pressure through gentle massages of these points and you should be able to trigger and strengthen contractions. Some of these pressure points have even been known to help deal with the pain of childbirth, so it is certainly worth knowing them.

Right now, you should know exactly how to induce labor yourself. As you can see there are certainly quite a few options on the table, so just pick the one that you feel suits you best.

Although there are various ways to induce labor on your own, some stand out more than others in terms of how effective they are. Right here and right now, we’re going to go over 3 methods in particular that are consistently able to help women go into labor.

It is worth noting that these three methods are not only known for being effective, but they’re also known for not having any adverse side effects.

· Acupressure

One of the ways to induce labor on your own that is definitely worth mentioning is acupressure – and it really isn’t nearly as mystical as some people believe it is.

Frankly speaking, this method is based on acupuncture pressure points that are located throughout your body and can be manipulated to help a wide range of issues. In this case, there are specific pressure points that can be massaged to help induce labor!

Acupressure is said to only be effective if your body is already prepared for labor. It doesn’t ‘force’ your body to go into labor, but rather helps it along the way if it is ready to do so.

· Sex

Without a doubt this is one of the most enjoyable ways to induce labor on your own – and it certainly is effective. Semen released into the cervix contains prostaglandins that can help it ripen and prepare it for birth (often triggering contractions at the same time).

Also, orgasms release a hormone known as Oxytocin, which causes uterine contractions.

Despite all the scientific debate that is constantly raging around how effective this method is, there are numerous women, midwives, doctors and other medical experts who all agree that even if it just helps to relax you – it does help.

· Nipple Stimulation

Another one of the ways to induce labor on your own that involves the Oxytocin hormone is nipple stimulation. This is easy enough and really just involves massaging the areola in circular motions. Also, you could get your partner to suckle on your nipples – imitating a baby.

Carrying out nipple stimulation for 2 minutes with 3 minute breaks in between should be enough to trigger a release of Oxytocin that in turn should help you to go into labor.

As you can see, there really are some effective ways to induce labor on your own out there. The three that we’ve covered are some of the best – though it must be said that acupressure really does perform far more consistently than the others and is also considerably more convenient.

All said and done – it is up to you to decide which method you’re comfortable with.

Imagine this scenario: You’re past your due date and you know that you can’t afford to wait too long else the risks to your child will increase. At the same time, you don’t want to have to go through any medical procedure, or be forced to take drugs.

In short, you need a method of natural labor induction that is going to work – and you need one fast.

When it comes to these methods however, most seem far fetched or ineffective. And of course, very few have any form of real data backing them up so it is tough to ‘guarantee’ that labor will be induced.

Some however, do have a track record of being extremely effective:

· Blue and Black Cohosh

Since medieval times, midwives have been using certain herbs as methods of natural labor induction – and both blue and black cohosh are renowned for their properties.

Black cohosh and blue cohosh can be found in tincture form and have been known to help strengthen contractions and even trigger them (thus inducing labor). Unfortunately, the downside is that their side effects are not fully documented, and that can be cause for concern.

Black cohosh in particular has been known to thin the blood, and this could lead to excessive blood loss during labor. If you feel you must use such herbs, it is best to use them in the presence of a doctor or medical expert.

· Evening Primrose Oil

Technically speaking, evening primrose oil is not a method of natural labor induction but it does help ripen and ready the cervix, which can lead to the onset of labor.

While you should only apply it directly to the cervix at 36 weeks, you can start taking it orally even before that, at around the 34 week mark. Needless to say direct application is more effective, but if you historically have had difficulties going into labor then starting on the oral capsules earlier on could help.

· Acupressure

Of all the options that you’ll find for natural labor induction – acupressure is probably the most consistent. In fact it is so effective that you shouldn’t use it until you’re ready to go into labor.

All that you really need to perform acupressure is a knowledge of the pressure points that can help trigger contractions.

These pressure points are the Haku (in the webbing between your thumb and forefinger), the BL60 (about four fingers width above your heel), and the Bladder 32 (halfway between the buttocks crease and the spine).

Applying pressure through these points by softly massaging them should be enough to bring you into labor – assuming your body is ready for it. I recommend checking out this maternity acupressure guide which will help you induce labor with acupressure.

To guarantee natural labor induction, you should first figure out why you aren’t already in labor – and the initial port of call should be checking to see if your cervix has ‘ripened’ enough in preparation. A doctor can help you with this. If it hasn’t, you could try the evening primrose oil that has been recommended.

Assuming your body is ready to go into labor however, the single most effective way to trigger it would be acupressure – so be sure to remember the pressure points that you just learned about.

Being able to perform natural labor induction so conveniently will definitely come in handy!

Nowadays there are many ways to find out how to go into labor faster – and many options to pursue. However the fact of the matter is that most of them involve a fair bit of hassle, which is probably something that you’d like to avoid when you’re at full term.

Can you imagine trying to find certain foods or herbs when you’re at your delivery date and have a thousand other things to worry about?

In other words, you can forget about most of the usual suspects. Medical procedures and drugs, for starters, are definitely out of the question, that is if you want to induce labor naturally. Similarly, you probably aren’t going to want to be told that you should go for walks or swims as well.

Here and now, you’re going to discover exactly how to go into labor faster, and with minimal hassle.

· Sex

Although this is probably going to involve some exertion, it really isn’t something that is normally a hassle – and it is one of the most popular ways to induce labor.

The benefits of having sex are twofold. Firstly, semen contains substances that can help to ‘ripen’ the cervix, and even on its own that may be enough to induce labor. Secondly, orgasms have been known to help trigger contractions which will also start labor.

If nothing else, it should help you to relax and take your mind off all the worrying you’ve been going through.

· Nipple Stimulation

To be honest, nipple stimulation is even more hassle free than sex. All you need to do is massage your areola in circular motions gently, or even get your partner to orally mimic a baby suckling your nipples.

When you do this, oxytocin should be released – and this hormone can help both trigger and strengthen contractions.

Learning how to go into labor faster with nipple stimulation certainly isn’t hard at all.

· Acupressure

Throughout your body there are ‘pressure points’ that, when stimulated, can help to induce labor. With acupressure, the only slightly tough part is unearthing how to go into labor faster with these pressure points.

Three points in particular that you should look for are the Bladder 32 (located halfway between the buttocks crease and the spine), the BL60 (between your ankle bone and Achilles tendon), and the Haku (in the webbing between your thumb and forefinger).

Applying pressure to these points by massaging them is normally enough.

Bear in mind though: Acupressure is a very effective way to induce labor, so you shouldn’t be using it unless you really are ready to go into labor.

Now that you know how to induce labor faster using three different methods, you can opt to either try all three, or just focus on one in particular. The method that is probably going to be easiest to use no matter where you are or what you’re doing is definitely acupressure – so be sure to take that into consideration before you decide.

Once you’re certain you know exactly what you need to help induce labor if necessary, you’ll be one step closer to being fully prepared for the big day!

Knowing how to go about inducing labor yourself is a good idea. After all, you never know what might happen as your due date creeps up on you – and it might actually turn out that you need help to go into labor after all.

While there are many natural methods of inducing labor out there – the fact is that quite a few have risks involved. Knowing those risks is essential to choosing how you plan to go about inducing labor.

For starters, one of the most popular methods of inducing labor is to eat various types of foods – and spicy food is often recommended. Unfortunately, if you don’t normally eat spicy food you run the risk of indigestion and could even end up with fairly severe diarrhea.

This will leave you dehydrated and weak – which is not a condition you want to be in when you do enter labor! And bear in mind that there are other foods that can do the same if you’re not used to eating them.

A good example of this is licorice, which is also often touted as helping to induce labor but can cause diarrhea, especially when consumed in large quantities as is often suggested.

Even Castor oil which was once the ‘bread and butter’ method of inducing labor yourself can result in the same issue. Frankly speaking though – the risks involving Castor oil are possibly far greater and there is a lot of debate as to whether or not Castor oil could lead to the baby passing Meconium.

If true, that is really a risk you do not want to take. Should a baby pass Meconium, they could inhale it into their lungs and that can be fatal or lead to other serious developmental problems. In short – it might be best to avoid Castor oil entirely.

Another debate that is also ongoing is whether or not certain herbs you might be thinking about using when inducing labor yourself are totally safe. These herbs are primarily blue and black cohosh.

In particular, black cohosh has been known to thin the blood – which can lead to problems involving blood loss during labor. To be honest, research about both these herbs is really inconclusive, but erring on the side of caution can’t hurt.

In all honesty, the question that you should ask yourself is: Why take any risk at all?

There are quite a few risk-free methods that you can use to go about inducing labor yourself, so there’s really no reason for you to pick something that has any risks to it whatsoever.

Light exercises (such as swimming or walking), meditation, nipple stimulation and even sex are all completely risk free. And if you doubt the effectiveness of those methods, what about acupressure instead?

Through pressure points located all over your body, acupressure has been known to be one of the most effective methods of inducing labor yourself. And the best part is there is zero risk involved. You can learn more about acupressure here.

Do yourself a favor: Now that you know exactly which methods of inducing labor yourself actually have risks attached to them, steer clear. In the long run, its not worth taking any risks when it involves yourself, or your baby.

Deciding how to induce labor at home can be tough, mostly because there are many different methods out there and little concrete evidence to prove which one works best. Needless to say, you need to know what is safe so that you can learn how to induce labor at home with zero risk to both you and your unborn child!

1. Acupressure

Just in case you didn’t know – acupressure is the art of stimulating ‘pressure points’ around the body and is a risk-free way to induce labor at home.

Either pinch the webbing between your thumb and index finger and rub in a circular motion, or press firmly on a spot that is about four finger-widths above the inside of your ankle bone. Be sure to take short breaks in between the contractions that you feel!

You can refer to this article -> Acupressure – Proven, Safe, Beneficial, & Highly Effective Way to Induce Labor which outlines why acupressure is the best method for inducing labor naturally and exactly how to use it to bring on your own labor and have your baby in your arms in as little as 48 hours.

2. Nipple Stimulation

Studies have shown that massaging the areola (the dark area around the nipple) in a circular motion that mimics the suckling of a baby can produce strong contractions in women who are pregnant. Although not completely conclusive, it is certainly worth a shot and there are hardly any risks when using this method of natural labor induction. Just make sure that you don’t overstimulate as it can cause strong contractions.

3. Foods

Over the years, certain foods such as pineapples, spicy foods, Chinese food, eggplant Parmesan and licorice have all been said to be excellent methods of natural labor induction. If you don’t normally eat these foods however, it may be best to avoid them – the last thing you need is a bout of indigestion!

4. Homeopathy

This is an increasingly popular method used to induce labor at home but it will require you to contact a registered homeopath. In general, the remedies consist of substances such as Pulsatilla and Caulophyllum – both of which are herbal in origin.

Despite the fact that there is no real research that proves the success of homeopathy as a method of inducing labor, there is no downside and the worst thing that could happen is that it simply does not work.

5. Walking

Taking walks while your pregnant will increase the pressure of your baby’s head on your cervix, and help it ripen and prepare for labor. Of all the ways to induce labor at home, this is definitely one of the easiest, and safest.

6. Sex

Without a doubt, this is one of the most popular methods of inducing labor, and on the long list of how to induce labor at home – it’s one of the safest too! Semen contains a substance called prostagladin that ripens the cervix and prepares it for childbirth while orgasms have also been known to help better the chances of labor being brought on!

Now that you know exactly how to induce labor at home in various ways that are all safe and secure for your child, it should be easy for you to choose which method suits you best and take steps towards your childbirth!

A lot of women think about using Castor oil to induce labor. These women are past their due date and usually looking for a natural alternative to medical induction. If I was past my due date and my doctor gave me permission to use natural means to try to get my labor started, I would try a natural approach as well. However, I would not use Castor oil to induce my labor.

Lot’s of women have tried this method of natural labor induction and many swear that it worked for them. I have no doubts that it might have worked for some of these women. It can actually help one to go into labor although it isn’t proven. However, it doesn’t work as good as many claim it does. Quite a few women claim that it worked for them but just as many say that it didn’t work for them.

This is only one reason that I wouldn’t recommend taking Castor oil to induce labor. The main reason is because of the side effects that it may cause and the possible risks it carries. If I am in my last stages of pregnancy and overdue, I will most likely already be in a lot of discomfort and pain. If you add nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea to that, it would only make matters worse. These are some of the side effects of taking Castor oil.

Castor oil can also cause fetal distress, dehydration, and meconium in the baby. These are other effects that health practitioners take into consideration and is why they don’t recommend it. Just think about it. Would you try taking Castor oil to induce labor if there was a good chance of developing these side effects and not even going into labor? There are far better natural ways to induce labor that are highly effective, safe, and carry no side effects or risks.

Many women think about speeding up their labor when their due date is approaching. It is a common behavior for pregnant mothers to induce labor at home. Labor induction is only suitable for women that have been pregnant for longer than 9 months. Before attempting to induce labor at home, you should consult your doctor. Some of the ways to induce labor at home include nipple stimulation, walking, eating fruits, acupressure, and taking herbal supplements.

Nipples stimulation can encourage the body to release a kind of chemical called oxytocin. The oxytocin is responsible for stimulating the uterus. If you over stimulate the uterus, you may suffer from harmful side effects. The nipples can be stimulated by using the hands or breast pump. By stimulating the nipple, you can speed up the labor process.

Walking can also help to induce the labor. When you walk, the baby will slowly move in the direction of the birth canal. It is recommended that you walk at least thirty minutes per day. Walking helps to put pressure on the head of your baby and cause it to press on your cervix. Emptying your bladder can also cause stimulation to the uterus. Besides walking, you can try other activities such as skipping, and swimming. If you plan to perform skipping, make sure you don’t jump with too much force otherwise you could injure the baby.

Eating fruits such as mango, pineapple and kiwi are effective in inducing labor at home. The fruit will release a type of enzyme into your body when it is being digested. The enzyme helps to tone up the cervix and make it ready for labor.

Acupressure is a well known method for inducing labor. The first acupressure point is located in between the thumb and first finger. There is also another acupressure point located above the ankle. It is situated about 5 finger widths away from the ankle bone. If you don’t know how to massage yourself, you can ask an experienced friend to help you.

Taking herbal supplements can also help to induce labor. Examples of herbal supplements include evening primrose oil, black cohosh and blue cohosh. You are advised not to take the herbal teas such as red raspberry leaf tea and nettle tea unless your doctor suggests them. The tea may cause your baby to feel discomfort in the uterus and suffer from complications. If the complication is very severe, your baby can die.
